DIY WOMEN

DIY Network is looking for women who know their way around a home renovation project. Well, that’s not exactly true – it is VPTV that’s looking for women with that kind of skill set. DIY’s casting notice for its monthly series, DIY Women, asks, “Are you saw-savvy? The self-proclaimed queen of crafts? If you're a women (sic) with a do-it-yourself project you’d like to show off, then we want to hear about it. You might see yourself featured in an upcoming article as part of our new monthly series, “DIY Women”!

As the husband of a locomotive mechanic, I find the notion that DIY Women work in “crafts” as opposed to construction more than a little demeaning. And what’s with the show being monthly? Why not weekly, or even daily? Women in the trades, speak out!
